Since 1994, Environmental Risk Communications, Inc. (ERCI) has provided businesses with cutting-edge tools to analyze and manage highly complex environmental liabilities. ERCI uses advanced probabilistic modeling, decision analysis and Monte Carlo simulation approaches to identify the most effective financial risk reduction opportunities. The company deals with all aspects of environmental risk analysis, including reserve forecasting, budgeting, portfolio analysis, capital stewardship, financial engineering and environmental decision analysis/strategic support.

ERCI offers business analysis services to Fortune 500 corporate Environmental Managers and is the developer of the most widely-used environmental liability risk analysis and forecasting software, Defender. Our clients utilize Defender to forecast project costs, set budgets and recommend environmental reserves on both a project and portfolio basis. ERCI projects include evaluating environmental remediation portfolios, validating reserve forecasts, designing portfolio management programs and supporting Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. We also facilitate industry benchmarking studies, offer training and support for Defender users and participate in detailed site analysis sessions.

Financial Analyst Intern

Part time Paid Internship in downtown San Francisco, CA

This paid internship would be a great opportunity to get started in a great company while being flexible with your school schedule.

    The successful intern will become involved in projects covering the entire spectrum of ERCI's activities. This will include working closely with project managers to develop strategic/financial plans, conduct reserves analysis using stochastic methods, prepare financial forecasts, perform critical budget analyses and variances, conduct financial research and participate in a wide variety of environmental risk evaluation projects. Additional responsibilities will be related to office operations and business administration. ERCI is a team-oriented organization within which our interns assume considerable responsibility for the daily completion of complex projects.
QUALIFICATIONS: At a minimum the successful applicant will have:
  • Course work from a major university, in a field requiring complex analytical and quantitative methods and skills such as Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Economics, Engineering, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics or Business Administration
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and accurate
  • Ability to work within deadlines, prioritize and multi-task
  • Extensive experience using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Project

Financial Analyst

    The successful associate will become involved in projects covering the entire spectrum of ERCI’s activities. This will include providing financial analysis and other consulting services to existing clients including in-depth analysis of specific liabilities and portfolios, research on technical issues and development of remediation strategies and decision analysis reflecting cost accuracy and alignment with client goals. ERCI is a team-oriented organization within which our associates assume considerable responsibility for the day-to-day management of complex projects. The position involves considerable direct client contact, which often necessitates domestic travel.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A bachelor’s degree from a major university, in a field requiring complex analytical and quantitative methods and skills such as Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Economics, Engineering, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or Business Administration

Senior Associate

    The successful Senior Associate will provide expertise in consultation, facilitation and modeling to ERCI’s clients. Responsibilities also include reviewing environmental remediation projects for reserve estimates, budget and lifecycle cost estimates and evaluation of remedial strategies. ERCI is a team-oriented organization within which this position will assume full responsibility for the day-to-day management and completion of complex projects including work product, budgets, schedules, resources and quality control. The position involves extensive direct client contact, which often necessitates domestic travel.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A graduate degree from a major university, in a field requiring complex analytical and quantitative methods and skills such as Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Economics, Engineering, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or Business Administration
  • 5+ years of consulting, financial project management and/or sales experience in one or more of these industries: investment banking, environmental and/or management consulting, environmental accounting, oil and gas, chemical, utilities, heavy manufacturing or transportation
  • Demonstrates leadership, strategic thinking and organizational skills; history of delivering on commitments; motivated to achieve excellent results with minimal guidance, independent self-starter; establishes goals/priorities; develops and achieves critical tasks
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and all phases of large financial analysis projects (including gross margin, metrics and cost control)
